The theme for this year’s parade is “Home Sweet Homecoming”. The MHS cheerleaders and Student Senate are partnering to bring this great tradition to life, and we hope the community will rally around our students! The Splash House parking lots will be the staging area for parade participants.

Welcome back to Frances Slocum Elementary, the home of academic scholars!

I am honored to serve as the principal of Frances Slocum. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic, social, and emotional growth.

We hope you had a wonderful summer and are excited to get the 2018-19 school year started. If you are new to Frances Slocum Elementary, we welcome you!!

We are excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways, filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning.

We make GIANT things happen! We strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities and to be college-ready by the end of their senior year in high school. At Frances Slocum Elementary, we are looking toward the future!

If you haven't registered your child, Please do not wait until the first day of school. We need to know who our awesome GIANTS are and place them in classes!

We will have an OPEN HOUSE on Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Come see who your teacher is! We have great teachers who have spent hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning.

Students' first day of school is Aug. 9. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast (which is free to all students), and school begins at 7:45 a.m. Dismissal is at 2:15 p.m. (Kindergarten parents: You may walk your child to class the first day, but after that, our awsome kindergarten teachers will help them get to class.)

CAR RIDERS please note:

We ask that you do NOT park in the “no parking zone.” We would like to provide easy access to our visitors entering, exiting, parking, and visiting our building. We also need easy access for emergency vehicles in case they are ever needed. Frances Slocum staff will direct the line forward.

Once again, welcome back!  Le’s make it another great year at Frances Slocum Elementary together!

Sincerely

Dr. Gwen Lavert, Principal
